It’s a hidden gem of Saint Petersburg. Definitely worth getting on the waiting list if you’d love playing tennis on great clay courts.

I truly love and appreciate the community at the Racquet Club of St. Petersburg. After my mother bought a home here, in 2017, and i began taking group lessons here on my visits. I’ve met the most dynamic, fun, quality people here, and the tennis pros are fabulous as well! Five Stars Hands Down! Naomi

I tried to join the Racquet Club of St Petersburg in 2025, about 6 months ago, a few months after the hurricanes. I was told that there was a waiting list and added my name to the list. I was somewhat confused because the courts were practically empty. The pool was closed and the facility smelled like mold. Due to water damage the pro shop was moved to an upper level. I had to go up a very rickety stairway to reach the upper level. I had a bite to eat in the cafe. The crab cakes were excellent. Afterwards I went to the washroom in the men's locker room. The locker room was very small, filthy, smelled bad, and looked like a cyclone had hit it. The courts are nearby to where I live. The clay courts are well maintained. Every so often I stop by and find that only one or two courts are in use. Given the hurricane damage I figure that the club needs about 2 million to really fix up the place, and probably more if they wanted to build a new clubhouse. When I come in the morning and ask why the courts are empty, I am told that everyone plays in the afternoon. When I come by in the afternoon, I am told that everyone plays in the morning. I told the receptionist that I only would like to hit with the ball machine when the courts are not in use as I am recovering from a knee injury. I am told that there is a waiting list, while constantly looking at 90% empty courts. I was also told that nobody from the waiting list has been made a member for several months. Given that the club needs money why not create an associate membership where associate members can only reserve courts 24 or 48 hours in advance? On top of that, the courts are closed for several hours during the mid-day. Without overloading the facility about 400 associate members could be added on a provisionary basis. This would add 864K per year in needed revenue. What am I missing?

Made inquires about a private lesson. No one answered the phone. No one returned a call after leaving a voice message. No one returned an email message created on their website. I guess they don't need the business.

We were actually dining at Tour de Pizza's new home, not playing tennis. We're SO happy to have them back in the neighborhood! Great healthy-ish pizzas and plans for an expanded menu of seasonal pasta dishes and other delights. Oh, and they now have a full bar.
