The Valley Mission Dog Park gates were LOCKED 🔒 at 7:50am. Spokane Parks and Recreation website states open dawn 🌅to dusk🌄, gate signs state open at 7am. At 7:10am the ☀️ sun was bright.Calls to Spokane Parks and Recreation went to voicemail. When we pull up to the dog park, our Siberian husky and German shepherd start vocalizing their excitement(how do they know) and wagging their tails. We are disappointed to turn our happy dogs away from the locked gate and negotiate with them to return to the car. They don’t comprehend the gate’s locked status; they simply want to play and run at full speed. Their energized bodies release adrenaline in frustration as they begin chewing on random objects. On-leash yard exercises, on-leash paced dog walks, and indoor wrestling sessions help, but nothing compares to the freedom of off-leash running at the dog park. The Valley dog park is our first off-leash dog park experience. We’re cautious about these parks, so we want to ensure our dogs’ safety and the safety of other dogs. Indy is loving and playful with other dogs, while Nanook is initially suspicious but then playful. If either dog senses a threat, they immediately stay close to us. Spokane is becoming less and less safe. The Valley dog park has been a clean safe place. Spokane Parks and Recreation please open the dog park at dawn
It's a park. The playground facility is great. The seating is terrible. There is one covered area that makes multiple party/get togethers tough, unless you get there first. It is relatively clean and there was no homeless encampment. Bottom line, it is a decent park that lacks enough covered areas to know you will not be out in the weather. Be prepared with your own chairs/covered tents. This is probably the best option anyway because you can set up right by the playground instead being farther away, under park's covered area, without a good sight line to the kids on the playground. 3 stars because there is a lot overcooked grass area and playground but more than one covered party areas are not available.
Another park I have always loved. My kids and I grew up at this park. Has a lot of the best amenities for the Valley. It has Splashdown, a community pool, baseball field, and an awesome playground that has been recently updated the past few years. It's well upkept and the patio area is perfect for gatherings like today. Perfect place to let the kids run around and play while you either play on the pull up bar or sit back and relax and watch them.
Very nice Park with a children's playground area, lots of room to run, a pavilion, public pools, $1.00 a day (check for hours)...a splash park too, I believe. Nice place to bring the family. If you have a volleyball net or some kind of game that requires some room, this might be the place for you! Separate dog park next to main park, with separate areas for large and small dogs. Seems clean overall, too. Public restrooms open during park hours, I think.
I have been sledding here for 40 plus years!! If you have kids take them here when it snows.. just make sure to teach them how to bail out of their sled if they are heading towards a tree:)
