UPDATE: Today I am changing my review to four stars (from three). Katrina Nebel, Senior Director of Health and Wellness at the Y, reached out to me directly indicating that the issues with the equipment are being addressed. Then, Sean (one of the staff) was able to show me that the machine I thought was not working was because I didn’t know how to properly set it. As promised, I’m attaching photos of the other issues I had mentioned. Once those and similar items are remedied, I have no reason to think I won’t update my rating to five stars. ********** Seems to be a great place for families with young kids.Staff are generally welcoming and friendly. The facility is kept very clean overall, including the pool area, jacuzzi, sauna, steam room and shower/changing areas. The upstairs weight machines, however, are outdated and not well-maintained. Several have been patched up with electrical tape, at least on one machine the exercise doesn’t work, and the back of the Leg Press seat has multiple rips in it. Is the location hurting for funds to maintain or replace machines? I’m rating 3 stars because I need strength training and the weight machine workouts are my primary reason for going.Next time I go I’ll take some photos.
Nice facility and staff, but if you have kids older than 6 and plan on working out in the morning forget about it because the youth activity center (7+) is closed in the morning. Their reasoning is that kids older than 6 are in school, but we homeschool, so that doesn't apply. Would be nice if they could accommodate homeschooling parents who would like to stay active. We can't come in the evening most of the time because that is when all the sports and other extracurricular activities are.
The last time I was here was 3 years ago . I came in here with my buddy Jimmi. The guy at the front desk let us both in for free when we told him we both worked at McDonald's. I used to be a member about 10 years ago. I like there weight room on the top floor they have a nice basketball court. They have good aquatics and good showers and locker rooms.
My wife and I switched gyms to the YMCA North because the gym we were going to was a nightmare. Been going for a couple months now and we are not disappointed. Great place to work out. Clean, quiet, and their equipment is in great shape.
Listen. I love this facility and have been a member off and on for 5 years. That being said, can we please increase the temperature in the family locker room? It is alarmingly freezing to the point that my teeth chatter because I’m actually shaking and shivering. I never complain and I’m not trying to be rude, but this is serious to me. It is literally freezing cold. When you go into the changing room after enjoying the pool it’s like you get hit with a huge freezing gust of wind. I am not trying to be rude. I have been going to the YMCA for five years.
