Set back a bit from Sacramento Ave, the Lerner Park playground provides several large play structures in a relatively quiet location. There is a large climbing structure for older children, a play boat and smaller area for younger children, and a variety of swings. The main play surface is wood chips and there is a sand play area as well. There are a few benches and picnic tables in the somewhat shaded play area.
The playspace here is great for Decatur kids. The park is crowded from about 2:45 to 3:15. Any other time it is empty. I have come here many times to different parts of the park: the playground, the athletic field, the wood, the tennis courts, the concrete lot, and the hills. All of the times have been happy. Decatur Cross-Country is hosted here, and the field is 4 laps a mile. Perfect practice for marathon running practice. The hills are great for that too. Hide and seek here is amazing, you have so many places to hide. You can also play CTF (Capture the Flag). The tennis courts also double up as pickleball courts, and there is a weekly pickleball class.
This is a very nice park! There's a wonderful playground, a tennis court, and basketball court in the middle as well. There's a small path that goes around it as well. On the other side of the trail there's a big open field with soccer goals for soccer games. The field can also be used for recreation as well. It's also in the middle of a built up area of the city so it's really great to have such a park in the area. Overall a really great park!
This is his favorite place to walk to. The grass are always nice and green. It's a nice place for family.
Nice big park with plenty of things to do. There is a good playground area for kids, and some nice fields. However, the tennis courts need to be redone and there should be some shade over the baby swings.
