Amazing tennis courts that are open to the public (I assume all the time unless the college is using them). So many courts and no one was really here on a Sunday.
This tennis court is located off of 31st and Chestnut. You make a right on 31st street, under the Walnut St overpass, park your vehicle and the tennis court is behind the parking lot next to Franklin Field
The fact that you can only book 3 days in advance is unfortunate. Every time I log into the system it tells me my password is wrong so I have to reset it every.single.time. Outdoor courts are reasonably priced and indoors while much harder to get are around $45 for an hour- split that if you’re playing dubs and it’s not too bad. I think we all know the parking is less than ideal unless you’re coming on non-peak times. The facilities themselves are very well kept and maintained. I just get so frustrated with trying to sign up for courts or book group lessons. Also the billing system is completely nuts so watch what you’re getting billed for and get receipts- I have a substantial erroneous balance from last year because they don’t have verification in their system that the amounts were paid at time of service.

The eastern courts are specially designed for varsity matches, featuring stadium seating and an elevated standing area for spectators to enjoy the game with a picturesque backdrop of the city skyline. Named in honor of a former Penn tennis captain and Hall of Famer, the Hamlin Tennis Center stands as a testament to the university’s commitment to excellence in athletics and community engagement.
Great courts! Not too many bowls you can play in in the city, wonderful acoustics. Courts play a tiny bit fast and take to slice well. Good courts to play on after playing indoor for the winter.
