Grant Park Pickleball Courts

One of the best spots Chicago has to offer. The views, the sense of community, and the free pickleball courts make it a great place to spend time. This place has brought so many positive changes to the community, improving physical, social, and mental well-being. It’s great to see everyone staying active, and I’ve been lucky to meet some wonderful people here. You can find players of all skill levels, and it’s easy to find a partner. When I first came out, I didn’t know anyone, but it wasn’t long before I made friends and felt like part of the community. I’m really glad to be part of such a welcoming space!
Pickleball - The game for the those with mobility restrictions, the elderly, or just out of shape 30 somethings - has a new court in the SLoop. Of course I love when new things come to the SLoop. Unfortunately, like the tennis courts next door, there will be times when groups of people come claiming they have it reserved even though no one knows how to reserve the space. Or some “regular” will make their own “rules” to the place. And of course with all the areas in Grant park that are supposed to be for the public, these courts will be closed 75% of the summer for private paid events like Lollapalooza etc. Anyways, it’s a nice place to run around with my dog in the morning. He enjoys finding all the pickleballs that people are too lazy or careless to pick up.
16 lighted pickleball courts, and a few tennis courts. Courts are nice, and lighted until 11pm. The competition is mainly beginner to low intermediate, or 2.5-3.25 level. If you are looking to just hit around with some friends, this is a great place. If you are looking to meet good competition, not the place. Most of the people were pretty friendly. No bathrooms around.
16 pickleball courts in downtown Chicago, nice! If you want to play at that court, line up there, I was told.
whoever is in charge of this joint: THIS PLACE NEEDS WINDSCREENS PLEASE AND THANK YOU for both tennis and pickle. Also whoever installed these fences literally did them backwards/inside out. the black poles should be on the outside of the court not inside lol
