Terrific Tai Chi and Yoga classes Monday and Wednesday by Asian martial arts expert Choi! This guy really knows his stuff and he's also available for individual instruction.
the facility has been well refreshed.. I am a middling pickleball player and visit a couple of times most weeks. The crowd is generally friendly and inclusive. Many are aware of (and frustrated by) the few bullies who visit regularly and are unpleasant to the non-aggressive players (a bunch of us tend leave shortly after they arrive) but and it's not clear how to establish boundaries around inclusive norms (including reserving a court for aggressive play) the way that the players have at other rec centers.
Nice weight from for a quick workout; good views from the walking path!
The young kids playground is nice. There is a walking trail around the soccer fields. The soccer fields have lights until 8 or 9pm. That is great for winter months that sunset is around 5pm. There is also a great swimming pool for adults and kids (ask for kids lessons).
I like that they keep the open gym open, some other places they rent the time of the open gym to private parties, my son and I we just to go to Don Haskins center to play ball and every Saturday in what is supposed to be open gym hours, the gym was being used for something else, so after a while of being rejected from the center we end up going here and was able to play.
