We lived in the neighborhood for years without realizing this place existed until we had a kid. Nice playground for younger kids (the are no "big kid" swings), but there's a nice climbing structure that older kids may enjoy. There's also a "tot room" inside aimed at babies and toddlers, with a small swing set/slide and a decent assortment of donated toys that are switched out regularly. There's also a dog park and a variety of sports facilities, including basketball, tennis, baseball.
Great neighborhood Rec center in the Castro. Playground, enclosed dog park, tennis courts and baseball field. Indoor gym with organized sports and many FREE (yes, FREE) drop in classes for the community. Tuesday 6:30 Zumba the BEST!!
Very clean and very well organized for a city rec center. Things to do for toddlers, children, and adults. The space offers a lot of free gym time and classes. Impressed! I wish all the city rec centers were more like this one.
I was born and raised there in 1956. It has changed a lot but it's very cool seeing all the kids and activities going on. We had a great childhood there. So glad to see its clean and being used so much.
I go to Zumba Gold class here which is for people over 55. I go to a few Zumba gold classes at other places too. There is a new teacher here for the Zumba gold class and although she is very nice, I do not feel that she teaches the steps to the class and she just expects us to catch on. Also it is my understanding that Zumba music is Latin influenced and I do not think that a lot of her music is. There is a Zumba Gold class on Friday just a block away at the Catholic Church, 100 Diamond Street at 9:15a.m. The teacher there really goes through the steps and his music is wonderful and he makes a lot of jokes and is a good teacher. I look forward to his classes every week.
