City of West Miami - Recreation Center

A hidden gem in the small city of West Miami right near Red Road and SW 8th street. They have two hard courts with 10 and 15 foot fencing with good spacing between the courts and plenty of shady trees. It's right next to the FPL station thus the high fences but its a fun place to play tennis including a hitting wall, basketball courts and softball fields. Free parking but limited hours as the park does not open until 1pm. There are junior programs starting around 1:45 and fun into the early evening if you are looking for kids clinics. Weekends might be your best bet but unfortunately it can't be on Sunday as they are closed. Note: They do mostly programs for Juniors after school.

The Halloween carnival was spectacular. If I recall correctly, this was the first time the Rec has ever done this. To be honest, it's the best thing they've ver done. The kids had a blast and actually got lots of candy. The food trucks were awesome too.

If I could give it no stars, I would! This facility, although seemingly nice to rent and with a somewhat reasonable price was a nightmare. We hosted our annual banquet here recently and ran into one problem after another. Not only was the rental process tedious, which would've been fine had they honored all that was promised, but we had so many issues. I'd never take the time or spend the money again. The city office was helpful initially but after receiving payment, it was nearly impossible to reach them for questions or to coordinate event details. Although the price seemed low, they added on fees for just about everything. For this, I would've rented a full service banquet hall. The day of the event, the police officers that we were forced to pay for, did no stay for the promised time. In addition, the air conditioning broke and we were told it could not be repaired. Our guests were extremely uncomfortably in the Miami summer heat and there was nothing done to help with the situation. After the event, not only did they not listen to our complaint or concerns but they also took nearly 2 months to mail the deposit refund that we were promised. We were searching for a location that we could use on an annual basis but this won't be it!

Beautiful and professional recreation center. We held our baby shower there with 100+ guest. AC ran perfect, on duty cop was required for the amount of guest. It even had a fair size kitchen with 3 industrial refrigerators that were very useful. Will definitely rent out the space again in the future.

Been here a couple of times where weddings and.anniversaries have been hosted. Very nice and elegant party hall. They only provide the tables and chairs. You provide the rest (food, decoration, dj, and table and chair covers). However, my friends have been happy with the arrangements and it's in an excellent neighborhood.
