The Chavis Community Center is a fantastic hub for recreation, relaxation, and community engagement. Whether you’re visiting for the first time or a regular participant, this space offers something for everyone. Here’s why I think it deserves five stars: The facility is clean, modern, and well-equipped. The meeting rooms are spacious and perfect for group events or classes. The staff is incredibly welcoming and always willing to help with any questions. What makes Chavis Community Center special is its sense of community. It’s more than just a facility or park—it’s a place where people come together, connect, and make memories. Whether you’re looking for a place to exercise, learn, play, or just unwind, this is the perfect spot. Highly recommended to anyone in the area. I’m grateful to have such a gem in our community!
Kids friendly! Summer is best for water activities and winter is for play areas.
I love The Chavis Community Center. I have visited for quite a few community events and for Raleigh City Parks Girls basketball for my daughter. This facility is newly renovated and has so much to offer a person of color like myself. When my family visits, we are treated as such. Like family. The staff is respectful, kind and they always make you feel welcomed. Today we visited for the Youth Aviation Academy and for Community Day. Both events were well organized and I am grateful to be apart of a city that pours into its Youth and entire community. We enjoyed Community Day where I truly felt valued as a resident. We received ticket vouchers for a free meal at the food trucks and barbecue grill for children. Meals were delicious and the staff handled the crowds well. We also received fresh fruit and vegetables to take home. In a time where our economy is in shambles, this was very helpful to me. Thank You City of Oaks and Chavis.
Great place for kids... and they do offer showers for the homeless Monday Wednesday and Friday but the hot water doesn't work in the men's shower and it feels intentional so less people will shower. I also bought the $15 pass to use the gym for a month and was told I couldn't use the showers even though I use the gym first. When I try to dispute it with the lady she wasn't hearing none of it and told me this wasn't her career...
Absolutely beautiful facility! Gorgeous view of downtown. They have spaces for rent, and an indoor elevated walking track. The exterior carousel, children's play area and outdoor track are very inviting and offer wonderful amenities to the community!
