The pool situation at this facility is awful. In the summer the pool is over 84° and in the winter it’s below 80°. They never cover the pool so there are warm spots and cold spots throughout. Also, after every practice I got to pluck leaves out of my swim suit because the pool is always dirty with leaves and bugs. This is not a pool for competitive swimmers so if you are on MOST, I recommend going to Blossom.
The best thing I can say about this place is that its not busy, so you can get access to equipment or classes. But it's not busy because the quality is substandard, the equipment is decrepit, and the staff is comprised of lazy, clock punchers who are barely doing the bare minimum. Customer service is non-existent, and for everything they offer it's incredibly overpriced. If you want access to a heated pool, which is about the only draw this place has over other facilities, then by all means join. But, there is virtually no other reason to be a member. Save money and join the YMCA, which is higher quality and more affordable, or if you can do without the pool, join Planet Fitness. Stay away and save money, while also avoiding a place where people don't care, staff is underpaid, under-trained, and uncaring. Better options exist, choose them!
I have been working out here for several years and it’s a great place however have it a 1 star because lately the treadmill area is hot and humid. I have been complaining about this and no one seems to care. So be ready to work out at 78F 🔥
We have 6 children and the price is much better for childcare and all the amenities when compared to Lifetime or Golds etc. Our children attended the summer camp this year and they absolutely loved it! They have great sports for the kids and extra curriculares. They have very well maintained pools and hot tub and locker rooms. They also have nice exhibits and theatrical events as well as several community classes and workshops. It's a great place! The only drawback is they have no stairclimber treadmill and I miss that during my workouts :-/
If you are looking for a “gym” versus an “activities” center go some place else. Caters more to families, kid camps, swim clubs/teams. If you work a normal job you won’t be able to take advantage of the slim pickings of the group exercise classes (my preference are the cycle classes); you also won’t be able to get a lane for swimming due to all the scheduled events and programs they have going on (nice pool, but only if you can actually swim in it). When classes get cancelled they kick you out of the room during that class’ scheduled time. Members should be allowed to stay in the reserved space for the allotted time. I guess if you are a family taking advantage of all the other programs they have to offer your membership value is worth it. I prefer a gym where you can go right after work or before and not have to worry about swim clubs, teams, and camps taking priority because they bring in more money than the single membership dues.
